Summary/Abstract: Aurel Stroe approached musical composition as a whole, from the catastrophic-thermodynamic point of view, from the perspective of the physics theories concerning unstable forms, open structures and their characteristics. In this study about morphogenetic music, the author investigates essential issues of musical composition. His theory is, in fact, the musical application of the famous morphogenetic theory put forth by the French mathematician Rene Thom. The Romanian master divides musical experiences into ABNORMAL MUSIC (corresponding to morphogenetic music, marked by asymmetry and incommensurability) and NORMAL MUSIC (most often, not the brilliant music of sound art).
