During the reading of Błażej Kmieciak's book, the question arises: why are his rights? The answer to this question can be twofold. To protect them as an essence as unique as any human being or to protect other values as well as family good or social interest - the author himself states a certain discrepancy between values, writing that children's rights compete with the interests of the family and the state. In this way, we get to the heart of the problem, namely: a child is usually a family member based on the relationship of subordination of children to parents and the element of society - its future, the next generation. Hence, there are discussions about the overtone of the concept of parental authority, doubts related to the introduction of a change in terminology, resulting from the desire to emphasize the importance of a different relationship between the child and the parent - instead of power, custody or responsibility. Despite the trends observed by the author in accentuating more family-friendly relationships, he shares the view of J. Ignatowicz and M. Nazar that "the notion of authority strengthens the authority of parents, which is of great importance in the context of the care of a person who is not fully formed personality. This situation causes that the special duty of parents is to take care of the safety of their wards "(pp. 210-211). Admittedly, this is not an isolated position.
