(Re)konstrukcija suvremene hrvatske / jugoslavenske povijesti u pregledima / sintezama nakon 1991. godine

Author(s): Damir Agičić / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

The author concentrates on the treatment of contemporary Croatian/Yugoslav history in several monographs, overviews, and summaries of Croatian history published over the past ten years. In addition, he completes a short re¬view of research on contemporary history included in the scientific-historical projects financed by the Republic of Croatia’s Ministry of Science, Education, and Sport. He concludes that when guided exclusively by scholarly criteria, the matrix of Croatian historiography is developing in a satisfactory manner.

Posthladnoratovski haos na Balkanu i novi ideološki poredak u svetu

Author(s): Milan Popović / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Hrvatska stranka prava 1990. godine: obnova, djelovanje i uzroci raskola

Author(s): Goran Ante Blažeković / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

With the coming of democratic elections in 1990, Croats of Rightist political orientation believed that is was necessary to renew the Croatian Party of Right (Hrvatska Stranka Prava – HSP) as the oldest Croatian party. It was originally founded in 1881 by Dr. A. Starčević and E. Kvaternik, but was banned after the royal dictatorship was proclaimed on 6 January 1929. They felt that the Party of Right in Starčević’s time was well ahead of its time, but that due to its ideology based on Croatian state right and statehood, was indeed more than necessary and modern. On 25 February 1990, at the Reform Congress held at no. 23 Jurevska Street in Zagreb, twelve Rightists renewed the HSP, reintroducing it to the Croatian political stage. The HSP was at the time the only party in Croatia which in its programme did not mention the as of yet internationally recognized Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; it also spoke of Croatian right to the whole of its historical and ethnic territory. It was too late for the HSP to stand independently in the elections of April 1990, but nonetheless the party stood with the Croatian democratic block, instead of the rather dubious Coalition of National Understanding. As well, the party worked enthusiastically in Croatian political life through its party paper “Croatian Right.” The restorers of the HSP had good intentions when they chose a president for the party who lived abroad (in the U.S.). When the president of the party, D. Paraga, returned to Croatia in August 1990, a number of developments took place which brought about a split in the party ranks. After overcoming this internal crisis, the HSP survived on the Croatian political scene and went on to assume a leading role among Croatian political parties.

Transition from Post-Communism: South-East Europe between Nationalism, Multiculturalism and Globalization

Author(s): Mislav Kukoč / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

As some other new notions and phenomena such as clash of civilizations and bioethics, notions post-communism, multiculturalism and globalization has become known only quite recently, during the last decade of the 20th Century. The term post-communism contains the prefix ‘post’ which implies rather negative definition of a global society which comes ‘after communism’, or something which is ‘no-longer-communist-but-notyet- anything-else’. On the other hand, the concept post-communism is one of the current waves of various post-isms which define the contemporary epoch in a negative sense: post-modernism or post-modernity, post-industrialism or post-industrial society, post-capitalism, post-historicism or the end of history etc.

Author(s): Ivan Mitev / Language(s): English,Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

In this article is being discussed the life of Prof, Kamen Garenov, alaso known as Father Peter Garena to his friends. In it are described some of the problems he encountered in life. Often he has been brought to the point of physical survival. After his ordination in 1990 he undertook a number of dangerous missions in lands inhabited by Bulgarians that were outside the borders of the country. Lands such as the Western Outlands (now in Serbia), Bessarabia, the territories around the Sea of Azov and such around Bitolja, among others. Besides being an author of articles and scholar papers and lecturer at Plovdiv Unversity, Father Garena was also an artist, writer and builder. He restored the abandoned church "St. George" in the town of Kurdzhali, himself taking part in the construction, and he frequently used unorthodox methods for helping people to follow the path of their spiritual revival.
