Amnezia modernă: cumpănind înțelegerea eronată a inteligenței artifi ciale

Author(s): Mihai Popean / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 1/2022

German composer and father of electronic music Karlheinz Stockhausen proposed in 1968 a new music education paradigm whose main goal was the utter transcendence of all human limitations, at least as far as the relationship with sound is concerned. His ideas were captured in a cycle of fifteen intuitive music works, however, the scientific basis that could have substantiated Stockhausen’s ideas with empirical evidence started being developed only on 1971 by AI (artificial intelligence) pioneer Longuet-Higgins. The twenty-first century transhumanistic movement proposes the singularity or transcendence of all human limitations by means of technological augmentation as a possible result of the advent of self-aware artificial intelligence. Stockhausen’s ideas were not new, his model having being found to be based on ancient sound technology and education whose aim was identical. The old model seems to have been forgotten, while the new model assisted by self-aware artificial intelligence is met with skepticism and fear of possible human extinction. Maybe a more practical answer, for the moment, is learning to know AI beyond sensational media titles into actually building private neural networks in order to understand hands-on the reality of what it really is.

Modele de învățare online și aplicații în domeniul muzical

Author(s): Nelida Nedelcuţ,Ciprian Gabriel Pop / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 2/2022

The use of music technologies has increased at a high speed over the past few decades in many educationalartistic contexts all over the world. The online courses must be adapted to learners’ characteristics and can be differentiated according to the technology they employ, the curricular structure, the degree to which the students are supervised. This research presents the experience we had in organizing online courses at the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj, Romania, with regard to synchronous and asynchronous communication that involved the use of hardware (dedicated servers, state-ofthe-art audio – video systems) and software adapted to pre-existent platforms (such as Moodle, Zoom, Skype, etc.) as well as creating and improving new ones – (MeetAnmgd teleconference, the platform of the Department of Distance Learning and Part-Time Studies, the platform of the ANMGD Library, etc). The musical technologies employed consisted in software dedicated to music production and online transmissions. Following the evaluation of the system, of the teaching materials and of the students’ level of satisfaction, we were able to draw the conclusion that the experience gained requires a continuous improvement of the electronic resources of institutions, as well as, to an equal extent, increasing the level of teaching staff’s expertise in using musical technologies.

Cybercultura – dimensiunea IT în managementul educațional muzical

Author(s): Oana-Mihaela Bălan-Budoiu / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 1/2023

The 21st century artists stand before unprecedented technological changes, which they have to integrate into their activity, with a view to promoting and communicating it to their audience. This paper wishes to discuss the IT abilities that contemporary musicians should possess in order to stand out, to maintain their image and to promote their professional success by means of online channels and other virtual instruments. We wish to show that music marketing is closely related to a series of transversal competences which resort to software and platforms that on the one hand facilitate the dissemination of artistic activities and on the other offer important support for the establishment of a highquality, high-impact image. Living in a world that follows visual stimuli, we believe that present-day musicians should make an effort to acquire new information in order to understand and use IT technology in favour of their own visibility and professional progress. We wish to point out that these interests can also be noticed in the tendencies found in the contents of art universities curricula at world level.

Dansând cu Cântăreața cheală – redefinirea educației artistice

Author(s): Nicoleta-Cristina Demian,Diana Drăgan Chirilă,Ulla Levens / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 1/2023

The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco is a classic example of the Theatre of the Absurd, which explores the absurdity of human existence through nonsensical dialogue, disjointed narrative, and surreal imagery. Transforming this play into a multimedia dance performance is an experiment that intends to re imagine it by incorporating contemporary stage vision and contemporary music to update the play’s commentary on modern society. This perspective involved reimagining the characters as dancers, and incorporating visual techniques, complemented by an optimally balanced soundtrack. Dancing with the Bald Soprano required a collaborative effort between choreographer, visual artists, musicians and student performers to create a visually stunning and immersive experience that brings the play to life in a new and exciting way. Stressing the relation of interdependence between dance, music and video techniques, through our multimedia dance performance, Dancing with the Bald Soprano, our goal is to redefine the art education for our students.

Digitalizarea procesului de învățare a teoriei muzicii începând cu învățământul primar

Author(s): Marius Bănuț,Ion Albulescu / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 2/2023

The present study aimed at verifying an inductive teaching strategy through which the specific concepts of music theory are formed starting from examples and practical activities of composing digital music through computer programming. In this sense, 25 students from the 4th grade carried out programming activities within the compulsory subject responsible with music education, through an educational project implemented over a period of 24 weeks. The score transformation of some musical works from the cultural heritage or children’s repertoire into digital audio products, with the help of the Sonic Pi application, represents a practice model for the digitalisation of the didactic process. The good results obtained by students, after the application of a knowledge test, show that making digital music with the help of Sonic Pi corresponds to a theoretical and applied framework through which music theory can be learned applicatively, by primary education or older students alike.

Music therapists who are more likely to use music technology are men who were born between 1970 and 1989. Depending on the specific musical activity, therapists may assume several roles, including facilitator, teacher, collaborator, operator, and producer. One concern is how to maintain the ethical standards of music therapy and social media using computers. The ultimate goal is for the client to get involved in the music production process, this will lead to achieving nonmusical goals in other areas through music production. Age and gender are both special characteristics that affect professionals’ willingness and ability to participate in music therapy. Many writers believe that when using technology in music therapy, the therapist is a witness, sound engineer, and producer, sometimes as part of the musical theater team. Music therapists use a variety of technological resources in clinical practice, not only for musical careers but also for evaluation and research. Therapists bring a variety of skills to the therapeutic alliance, but most importantly they understand their clients’ needs and have clear treatment goals. These phenomena have new implications and possibilities for the field and practice of melanoma treatment, which we will discuss partially, but not entirely. Here, therapeutic and educational musical endeavors are associated with recipients. Many research studies in music therapy and technology are also observed as growing interest in the fields of musicology, music, and health, especially in Scandinavian countries, where technology is used in everyday life as a means of promoting health.

Bayreuthske asocijacije

Author(s): Peter Sloterdijk / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 29/2024

Author(s): Ljiljana Filipović / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 1-2/2024

Camusov sudac pokajnik Jean-Baptiste Clamence u amsterdamskom baru Mexico City pristupa nepoznatom strancu osjećajući čudnu naklonost.

Education of church musicians in Cracow in the period from the end of the Second Vatican Council to the present day

Education of church musicians in Cracow in the period from the end of the Second Vatican Council to the present day

Author(s): Wiesław Delimat / Language(s): English Issue: 22/2024

The training of church musicians in Cracow in the period after the Second Vatican Council became one of the important tasks of the institutional Church associated with the post-conciliar renewal of the liturgy. In the 1970s, the training of church organists here took on a systematic and organised character. The activities of the Archdiocesan Organist’s College, as well as the Church Music Section at the Liturgical Institute, were constantly evolving. Over time, their tasks were taken over by the Archdiocesan Organist School (now the Archdiocesan Music School) and the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow (now the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow). Since 1997, the Academy of Music in Cracow has also been educating church musicians. At present, Cracow and the Archdiocese of Cracow offer many opportunities of professional music education, which are eagerly used by organists, choir conductors, as well as people passionate about Gregorian chant, liturgical composition and the broadly understood animation of the musical life of churches. The immediate impulse for writing this article was the 25th anniversary of the Cardinal Franciszek Macharski Archdiocesan School of Music, celebrated in 2023, which is an important link in the series of educational institutions thanks to which the level of education of church musicians is constantly rising.

Development of the students' cognitive processes through interdisciplinary approaches

Development of the students' cognitive processes through interdisciplinary approaches

Author(s): Diana Elena Sârb,Andrea Liana Pișta / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

Music influences and, in turn, is influenced by other disciplines. Its vital and dynamic presence in our lives determines an interdisciplinary approach to general music. This article seeks to describe the principles and purposes of such an approach, as well as the characteristics of an interdisciplinary option that can influence students' cognitive development, attitude formation, and the development of musical skills. Music training induces changes in children's brains and behavior, thus supporting the power of music education in the child's cognitive development. Music teachers can create interpretive spaces in which research-based projects open up opportunities for expressive and creative experiences. This analysis explores ways for the future development of interdisciplinary perspectives, including dispositions, skills, and understandings that lead to interdisciplinary teaching, the development of students' relational thinking in various fields, and pedagogical strategies that foster meaningful connections.

E – learning and music therapy – correlative study

E – learning and music therapy – correlative study

Author(s): Cecilia CURIS / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

Music therapy is recognized as an effective scientific method both in solving medical and psychological problems and in maintaining psychological well-being in healthy people. However, its therapeutic potential is used to a limited extent. The present study brings to the fore, as a working hypothesis, the correlation between the accessibility of music therapy as a method of remote medical and psychological intervention, in relation to the digital literacy offered by technological developments. The potential of remote music therapy has been recognised in the context of pandemic social isolation and the concept deserves to be preserved and used in the future due to its undeniable benefits. Method:The design of the study was conceived in such a way as to use digital methods in order to collect data from the sample of respondents, through the Google Forms application, software for collection and automatic statistical analysis of data. An analysis of the collected data was applied in parallel, using the Minitab software. Results: Data processing confirms the working hypothesis, namely the fact that melotherapy can represent an alternative method of therapy, with a positive statistical correlation between acceptability and adherence to MT and elearning. Conclusions: The limits of the study are determined by the small size of the study sample. Although there are positive correlations between variables, more indepth studies on larger statistical populations and the integration of data in a wider context are needed in accordance with the evolution of e-learning and the development of telehealth tools. An important role is played by patients' beliefs regarding both telemedicine and the benefits of TM per se.

Dance as a form of artistic education for the community

Dance as a form of artistic education for the community

Author(s): Gabriela Sima / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

The fact that dance is a universal language, makes it accessible in all corners of the world, regardless of the space or time we find ourselves in. In fact, the advantages of the study of dance are multiple in any of the systems we relate, formally or nonformally, the latter encompassing the freedom of expression, so preferred today in all age categories. Within the Pro Napoca Art and Sport Association, in addition to the usual ballet and dance classes, numerous programs and projects are carried out that have as objective the implementation of the show-exercise, through which children become young artists, are part of the story of the show, play roles, transmit the character's feelings, get acquainted with the notions of music, act according to the instructions of the show coordinator. Since 2008 until now, the association has carried out about 28 projects with young people and children from non-vocational backgrounds, in the form of recitals, productions, performances. We chose as case studies four types of artistic projects, namely: The Voice of the Birds, The Lark, Gala of Champions and Jazzy Christmas, being suggestive in terms of the objectives that were set. Having a different context of development, these activities have generated multiple and diverse benefits to children who practice dance.

Education for the community in dance and music today

Author(s): Nicoleta Demian,Ursula Levens / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

The creation of a stage performance with students is, first of all, a matter of communication. This collaborative work of creation, teaching and learning specific art techniques is an essential part in the field of art as well as a challenge for academy and university teachers. In this article we describe from different points of view, how students could become familiar with a multitude of innovating techniques and procedures of form and artistic language by preparing a stage performance in the community. In the following article the choreographer and dance teacher Nicoleta Demian (N.D.) and the musician and music teacher Ulla Levens (U.L.) dispute the topic 'aesthetic education' by responding to four questions in common with a view on their individual fields of working with students in art.

The relationship between stylistic elements-vocal technique and emotionality in Tiberiu Brediceanu`s songs for voice and piano

The relationship between stylistic elements-vocal technique and emotionality in Tiberiu Brediceanu`s songs for voice and piano

Author(s): Cezara-Teodora Diță / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

The eighty Doinas and Romanian folk songs of Tiberiu Brediceanu compose the miniature creation of the composer, these being authentic romanian songs, collected by he from different areas of the country, songs that later were transcribed and arranged. These are different from multiple point of view: tempo, measure, melodic line, rhythmic structure, dinamic ellements, agogic indications, relationship between vocal performer-accompanist pianist, but the emotions is a common point of all these, the emotion that they transmit to the public in the moment of musical performance. The emotion, according to the dictionaries represents an affective reaction, usually of medium intensity which takes place for a very short period of time, producing changes in the body`s activities. Bassically it mirrors a person`s attitude towards reality, attitude influenced by one or more internal/external factor. The emotion that a vocal performer conveys in the moment when interprets a musical work involves multiple factories: his state of mind, the temperament, his personality, creativity and last but not least, musical education. There doesn`t exist an universal classification of emotions, because they can be classified according to cultural context, possible target, life span, etc. There are eight primary emotions that can be grouped positively or negatively: joy-sadness, angerfear, trust-disgust, surprise-anticipation, all these can be combined, thus giving birth to other emotions. From all those emotions previously mentioned in the ten songbooks of Tiberiu Brediceanu, most often we encounter sadness caused by unshared love, children leaving/boyfriends going to war and loy – in those songs in which the love story between two young people is related, who feel the thrill of love for the first time. Also, the specific Romanian vocal gender which best conveys longing is doina, predominant in the songs harmonized by Tiberiu Brediceanu (Bălan, 1976, p. 14). Doina, was an important source of inspiration not just for Tiberiu Brediceanu, even for other composers, because its musical-structural elements (parlando singing, the melismatic melodic line, metric instability, different dynamics and agogic rubato) express directly, intens and deep a variety of ideas and feelings.

Teacher's role in managing student performance anxiety in primary school pupils

Teacher's role in managing student performance anxiety in primary school pupils

Author(s): Cătălina Căpățînă / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

One of the paradoxical situations encountered among musicians highlights the wellbeing/poor health binomial state, in which the same individual can feel, for example, a well-being sensation when listening to a musical work, while the same individual may experience anxiety, palpitations and depression, or rather poor mental health, when it comes to performing the work in front of an audience. Mental health appears to be directly proportional to the quality of the performance. The more harmonised and balanced the mind-energy-body aggregate is, the more enjoyable the experience of playing a musical instrument can become. Most primary school pupils (ages 7-11) are unaware of the physical, psychological and emotional complexities and implications of instrumental performance; as a consequence, the role of harmonising them lies with the instrument teacher that, in the early years of violin study, has a significant impact on the further development of the child as a performer and on the attitude the pupil develops towards music.

Between the Hazzan’s Pulpit and the Operatic Stage: A Biography of the Bimusical Singer Yitzhak Man

Author(s): Veronika Seidlová / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

This study presents a biography and discography of Yitzhak Man (1885, Działoszyce – 1963, Tel Aviv), a remarkable figure of the interwar Czechoslovak cantorate. The Polish operatic singer Ignacy Mann, who gave up his fifteen- -year stage career to become Chief Cantor of the Great Synagogue in Brno (1927–1939), while continuing a professional concert career, had to escape to Mandatory Palestine in 1939. He later became known as Yitzhak Man, Chief Cantor of the Central Synagogue in Haifa (1944–1955). This biography places a special focus on his cantorial service in Brno, Moravia (1927–1939) as an unexplored part of Czechoslovakia’s Jewish history at the same time discussing Man as a case in point for a small cohort of cantors whose careers spanned a broad spectrum of music activities. It shows Man as traversing two distinct music cultures while utilizing the ethnomusicological concept of bimusicality.
