Appearance of Triangulation in Teacher Trainees’ Research Plans

Author(s): Sántha Kálmán / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2019

This study investigates the emergence of triangulation in teacher trainees’ research plans. The main objective of the research is to detect the inap¬propriate uses of triangulation to point out didactic aspects that can promote the efficiency of educators teaching research methodology. Participants in research methodology courses had to design and document a research process related to school or teaching in the form of a research plan. They had a free choice regarding the topic of the research. The coding of the text corpora amounting to 400 pages was done by combining deductive and inductive logic. The reliability of coding was ensured by intracoding. The results show that inappropriate uses of triangula¬tion can be described as misuse of terminology, false equivalence of triangulation and methodological triangulation, and false equivalence of triangulation and mixed methods. The problems encountered have a double feedback function. First, they give feedback for the academic course, second, after drawing the conclusions they also serve as self-reflection to form education activities and thinking.

Ar institucinė inovacija reiškia naujus vadybos metodus? Transformacinė lyderystė ir darbuotojų įgalinimas profesinio švietimo įstaigose

Author(s): Žilvinas Židonis,Sonata Andriuškeviciene / Language(s): Lithuanian / Issue: 1/2019

This article aims to explain why modern public education initiatives in Lithuania do not deliver on expected results in spite of sufficient investments and government support. The paper focuses on institutional innovation in vocational education – the creation and management of Sectorial Practical Training Centres. Sectoral Practical Training Centres are primarily the instruments of the initial vocational education policy, seeking to improve and adjust the skills of the current and future workforce to the needs of private and public economy sectors. The article is based on proposition that newly created centres would be less exposed to administrative tradition, and should strive to employ modern management ideas, such as transformational leadership and employee empowerment. However, the empirical investigation revealed that there is a big lack of leadership, and managers rely on old-but-good administrative means. The employees stress that there is no support and feedback from management side; staff members do not see prospects for self-realization as well as for creativity and innovations. At the same time, the employees are keen to take more responsibility and to be more engaged in decision-making processes. The article concludes that one of the biggest obstacles for future organizational development is mismatch between current management practices and employees expectations.

Assessing Levels of CO2, CO, NO2 and SO2 in Indoor Air Using Dräger Sensors: A Case Study of Prishtina, Kosovo

Author(s): Fatbardh Gashi,Shyqri Dumani,Naser Troni / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2017

Studies in large cities revealed that indoor air pollution concentrations are at such levels where it can cause serious health impacts. The main source of the release of substances in the environment is the emission of gases (produced during the combustion process) such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, ammonia and others. In this study the assessment of indoor air quality in 26 places in Prishtina city were investigated and the main objective of this study was monitoring of the air quality through the determination of gases concentration of C02, C0, N0x and S02. Also the ratio of CO2/CO2+CO was calculated. Concentrations of CO2, CO, SO2 and NOx were determined using “Dräger” instrument, model “X-am 7000 digital gas monitor”. Environmental risk assessment of air quality was done by comparing the obtained results with air WHO standards. During that period were found a permanent presence of some toxic gases in high concentrations in indoor areas. Results show that CO2 levels were ranged 300-4000 ppmv. The concentration of CO was ranged 0.6-17 ppmv and was reported to be under limits value in all locations. Also concentrations of SO2 and NOx (except air sample S6) were reported to be under WHO air limits value. According to gases concentration, many locations show values characteristic for highly and extremely contaminated indoor places.

Attitude and Self-Efficacy of Students with Motor Impairments Regarding Touch Input Technology

Author(s): Maria Doina Schipor / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2019

We address in this work the role touch interfaces could play in reducing the inequalities motor disabled students confront with. To this end, we conduct a between subjects experiment, involving students with motor disability and able bodied participants, investigating both the attitude and the self-efficacy with respect to the utilisation of touch technology in the everyday life. We rely on the well-established relationship between attitude, self-efficacy, and actual performance in order to explore strategies for increasing the actual performances through psychological means. The statistical analysis indicates significant differences between subjects with motor impairments and able bodied participants in the case of both attitude and self-efficacy. We connect these outcomes with strategies for reducing the inequalities for the students with motor disabilities in the context of educational activities.

Author(s): CSABA MAKÓ,Miklós ILLÉSSY,András Borbély / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 2/2018

The fear of job loss due to the labour-saving technological changes is rather old and dated back to the 19th century Luddites in Britain. Recently, similar fear reawakened due to the rapid expansion of the increasingly cheap and capable computers (digitisation). According to the empirical experiences of the European Working Condition Surveys (EWCS 2005 and 2015), every second workplace belongs into the category of ’creative work’, which is less threatened by automation; and every fourth worker carry out ’routine’ tasks, which will be easily excelled by computers. However, important country differences exist: creative jobs characterise higher than EU-27 average the Nordic, Continental and Anglo-Saxon countries, on the contrary, the highest rate of routine tasks prevail in the Mediterranean and in the Central and Eastern European countries. Hungary lags behind the European average and the tendencies of the last years are alarming

Since 2016, the focus of the almost 30 year old English educational reform has turned toward the development of the VET System. In this paper we review the most important measures and political dimensions of this process. We discuss this topic through the educational policies of three waves of English Governments: 1) Thatcher’s government and the New Right; 2) Governments of Labour Party; 3) Cameron’s coalition governments and present day May’s Government. Under the direction of Michael Gove Education Minister from 2010 the coalition government decided to increase education requirements and control. The main goals of their measures were to help the 16–19 year olds to enter the world of work successfully. The evaluation is accompanied by intense professional debates, which contains several financial and professional aspects.

Berufseingliederung der Hochschulabsolventen in der Sowjetunion

Berufseingliederung der Hochschulabsolventen in der Sowjetunion

Author(s): Leonid Novikov / Language(s): German / Issue: 01/1980

The professional integration of graduates in the Soviet Union reflects various educational and economic policies that characterize the role of higher education in relation to the relationship between skills and employment. The occupational integration process in the Soviet higher education sector, which is based on the manpower approach and is clearly geared to the needs of the economy, is considered to be one of the key indicators of the functioning of this education sector. The analysis of this problematic area touches questions of the economics of education and the economic efficiency of investments in higher education. The study of the professional integration of graduates also makes it possible to raise some questions about the management of the labor force (through physical incentives, etc.) in the production process and service sector under the framework of the "real" socialist social system. This is possible in principle because the planned economic employment system as a whole and taking into account the proportions of specialists with different qualifications with the higher education (and the education system in general) not only interlocked, but also its position in the social system exclusively by its function in the social production is determined.
