„Drugie domy” a zrównoważony rozwój obszarów wiejskich

„Drugie domy” a zrównoważony rozwój obszarów wiejskich

Author(s): Adam Czarnecki,Krystian Heffner / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 4/2008

The idea to possess a 'second home' is becoming increasingly popular and leads to the emergence of vast zones of concentration of such second homes in rural areas. This phenomenon attests to progressing urbanisation and gradual materialisation of the post-industrial paradigm of development through new trends in consumption and satisfaction of modern demand for tourist services. Various forms of realisation of the 'second home' need materialise chiefly in rural areas, impacting strongly on the structure of their space and its arrangement, as well as on social and economic relations. In the zones of concentration of this form of the urban population’s operation in rural areas significant changes become observable in the landscape, economic and social-cultural activity. 'Second homes' undoubtedly constitute a development opportunity for rural areas (mainly in respect of economic activity) but they also can impact negatively on the natural environment and rural landscape. The article presents an analysis of the evolution of views on the phenomenon of 'second homes' and discusses its meaning for the development of rural areas (in respect of economy, social relations and natural environment). The article marks also an attempt at arranging the principal definitions and research problems essential for the shaping of rural development in Poland.

Author(s): Mariana Petrova / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 2/2015

Convergence has contributed to placing some media contents on different electronic platforms. Bloggers and internet users have almost taken professional journalist’s place. The evolution has affected all branches of media sector, the citizen journalism has entered into the new media and social networks have become a source of information for many people. New models of media content management are primarily targeted at reducing costs and increasing profits and at splitting off from the traditional bilateral management model. In the modern chaos of information overload society needs to have not only free, clear and segregated media content available from a variety of devices but also to share their opinion with others.Such demand was sensed by Arianna Huffington who created the whole media empire counting more than 100 million readers from all over the world. She has created a huge opinion-forming platform (The Huffington Post) which combines a news aggregator and blogging platform together to which you can add TV channels, magazines and e-books activity. Such combination of media content aggregator activity with bloggers platform activity can be defined as “huffinization”. Media content are created by the platform users and more than 30 000 unpaid bloggers that is allowed not only to ramp up profits but also stimulate the development of political and social events.

„Jakie znaczenie ma religia?”. Religia w badaniu stosunków międzynarodowych

Author(s): Anna M. Solarz / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 4/2017

An overview of books and academic journals allows one to come to the conclusion that scholars have taken note of and analysed the role of religion in international social relations more or less since the end of the Cold War, that is since the 1990s, particularly after the Al-Qaeda attacks of 11 September 2001. Events of key significance to the world order in recent decades have also become a pretext for giving more attention to religion. This is not a coincidence. International relations as a discipline is still searching for its place in science. Driven by the ambition of constructing global visions and theories, it must first of all transcend its original Eurocentrism and hence encounter religion and religiousness, among other things. The author of the article sees a need for an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the international reality as well as going beyond positivist research methods. She outlines the origins and development of international religious demographics and addresses the problem of including religion in international relations literature. She claims that although much is already being written on the subject, we are still at the beginning of the road. The challenge is worth taking up; on the one hand, it forces scholars to look beyond the boundaries of their discipline, and may significantly impact its identity on the other.

„Jelenia strzałem zwalam z nóg…”. O znaczeniu polowań w „Scenach myśliwskich z Dolnej Bawarii” Martina Sperra

„Jelenia strzałem zwalam z nóg…”. O znaczeniu polowań w „Scenach myśliwskich z Dolnej Bawarii” Martina Sperra

Author(s): Zbigniew Feliszewski / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 4/2018

The article is an attempt to read the early play of a German play wright Martin Sperr, from the perspective of hunting theory. In the play „Hunting scenes from Bavaria” of 1966, Martin Sperr shows the mechanisms of exclusion of a human being from the society. The play is set in a Bavarian village – a community on the threshold of economic, political and cultural changes, transforming from a production society into a consumer society. The economic crisis exaggerates the processes of exclusion, which culminates in the literal hunting for homosexual Abram. The article is an attempt to analyse the hunting artefact as a way to show the individual processes of exclusion from the community.

„Kiművelt emberfők” a térben – A diplomások* területi eloszlása valóban a kiegyenlítődés irányába mutat?

Author(s): Ádám Németh,Zoltán Dövényi / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 02/2018

The research results of the recent past proved that the inequalities in the spatial distribution of people with tertiary education have been decreasing since the political transformation in Hungary. At the first glance it seems to be good news because it could be perhaps an indicator of the convergence and catch up at the periphery. The purpose of our paper is to give an insight into this trend, analyze its main reasons and spatial patterns (without being exhaustive), and reveal therefore its mechanisms. Our most important conclusions can be summarized as the follows. Although we also proved the existence of the process in question on national level, we found in fact a strongly asymmetric phenomenon. In fact the peripheral, most disadvantageous settlements do not benefit from the fact that the spatial dispersion of people with diploma has become less concentrated indeed; they are only ‘passive viewers’ of the process. The decrease of the weight of Budapest and other large cities has been compensated first and foremost by the ‘strengthening’ of the already developed, prosperous settlements around the higher education centres. Therefore the decreasing level of spatial concentration of high-skilled people in Hungary, showed by the Gini, Hoover as well as Hirschman-Herfindahl Indices, can be considered rather the outcome of the ‘suburbanisation of diplomas’.

„Koncepcje człowieka” a nieetyczne zachowania pracowników w organizacji. Mediacyjna rola kompetencji moralnych

„Koncepcje człowieka” a nieetyczne zachowania pracowników w organizacji. Mediacyjna rola kompetencji moralnych

Author(s): Dariusz Turek / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 430/2016

Unethical work behaviors have represented one of the most frequently undertaken topics in managing science in recent years. The consequences of unethical behaviors are measurable outcomes, both financial and organizational. Therefore researchers try to understand predictors of this type of behaviors. In the present study it is shown that one of the determinants of such behaviors can be subjective “concepts about human nature” described in four types: economic, imperfect, social and humanistic man. Based on the study on 274 employees of various organizations it was shown that „the concept of economic man” and „imperfect man” which was possessed by the individual, directly explained unethical behaviors in the workplace. In the case of „the concept of social man” and „humanist” the relationship of these variables was not obtained. However, an „indirect” relationship between these concepts, through the mediation role of moral competencies was shown.

„L'économie du bon plaisir”. The Impact of Statism on the Organization of Administrative and Economic Life of Silesia during the Habsburg Era (1526-1740)

„L'économie du bon plaisir”. The Impact of Statism on the Organization of Administrative and Economic Life of Silesia during the Habsburg Era (1526-1740)

Author(s): Jarosław Kuczer / Language(s): English / Issue: 7_EN/2017

In many human sciences, especially political science and economics (and cultural research) there exist many analyses of the impact of statism (etatism) on the functioning of societies. The aim of this article is to show and highlight contemporary phenomena of this doctrine, through inquiry into their origins and character, treated – especially by Austrian and British researchers – as unchangeable. Why Silesia? Why 1526-1740? Several constants existed there. Firstly, it was a province of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, treated in the studies of the history of the rights as state par excellence. Secondly, in the abovementioned period, it was the farthest from, among others, Europe's ekstern most economic structure which underwent statist policies modeled on French achievements. Thirdly, Silesia was the last in Europe, and so it was seen as „the most perfect”, in practice it was a well worked out and well distorted, form. The article analyzes the issues of the organization and development of central public administration structures and their impact on economic statism, according to the scheme: 1. Ideological basis of statism in Silesia; 2. Implementation through the creation of central Office; 3. The taking of the highest economic offices by the Emperor’s adherents; 4. Giving the greatest land fortunes to people involved in the politics of Vienna Court; 5. News from the fiscal policy agenda; 6. Economic basis of the creation a new social order/hierarchy. Such a system is related to the value of chronological changes. When conducting an explanation, it proved to be the best to use synchronic, genetic, philological, evolutionary and sociological methods and elements of comparative, progressive and retrogressive and argumentum ex silentio methods as well.
