Jan de La Croon, previously unknown to historians, began his career as a private from Weerth in the Netherlands. After joining the Spanish Army he became a military commander of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. His life story is an example of a career of a common soldier who became the most significant person in the imperial army following the end of the Thirty Years’ War. He was a military commander of Bohemia between 1652 and 1665.
