Nikolaus Lenau, Between Melancholy and Weltschmerz

Nikolaus Lenau, Zwischen Melancholie und Weltschmerz

Author(s): Eleonora Pascu / Language(s): German / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

O . Iosif, Octavian Coga, Nicolae Labiş şi Ion Pillat.

Wayfarers and Journeys to the End of the Night

Călători şi călătorii la capătul nopţii

Author(s): Florin Oprescu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

Even though we can't establish fundamental connections between the two novels: "Voyage au bout de la nuit" by Louis-Ferdinand Celine and "Craii de Curtea-Veche" by Mateiu I. Caragiale we can distinguish a certain connection concerning the reception of the text. The aim of this study is to cross the boundary of dephasation concerning the two literatures and to analyse a problem of the language which is nothing else than a way of superposing itself on the depicted universe. The harshness of the language has different premises in the studied novels and the act of exorcism through the word is the only accepted modality of a journey to the end of the night.

Nichifor Crainic. The Ethnocratic State — A Utopic/Dystopic Construct

Nichifor Crainic. Statul etnocratic — o construcţie utopic/distopică

Author(s): Viorel Marineasa / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

The project of the ethnocratic state (1937), as conceived by the theologian, philosopher, writer and journalist Nichifor Crainic (1889-1972), one of the promoters of the extreme right ideology during the inter-war period, is a retort to the state of things that was consecrated by the Constitution adopted in 1923 by the Parliament of the united Romania ("Greater Romania"). This programme with aggressive-democratic features aimed at synchronising the Romanian stale with the German Nazism and Italian fascism (although this is not always apparent), opposing the Christian Orthodox note to the former and anti-Semitism (economic, but also racist) to the latter.

A Feminine Archangel — Jeanne D'Arc

Un arhanghel feminin — Jeanne D'Arc

Author(s): Adriana Babeţi / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

Caragiale's Irony and the Public Ceremony

Ironia caragialiană şi ceremonialul public

Author(s): Daniel Vighi / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

The Caragiale's irony and the public ceremony study tries to present the modernity of the Romanian playwright Ion Luca Caragiale's literary work starting with some principles which define the contemporary spirituality: the irony, the relativism, the absurd . Our research takes into account the connection of the important writer's creation to the artistic research of the last important literary generation stated in the 80's. We also took into consideration a philosophical dimension of the study through the relation of the Caragiale's literary work with the ideas about irony and relativity, as they appear in Richard Rorty's reflections.

Caragiale in Berlin

Caragiale la Berlin

Author(s): Ileana Oancea / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVIII-XIX/2002

Keywords: Caragiale's life in Berlin from 1904; Caragiale's exile
