Aleksander Wat: forma życia. Studium o pisaniu, doświadczeniu, obecności

Author(s): Paweł Paszek / Language(s): Polish

The book "Aleksander Wat: A Form of Life. A Study on Writing, Experience, Presence" concentrates on the issues of special creative writing experience founded on the union and consonance of existential and textual structures. Literature is understood as a formation and a form of life. The first chapter is an attempt to describe a modern literature experience. The primary perspectives concern the writing experience and its influence on the shape and presence of subjectivity. The considerations included in the next two parts are based on a very meticulous reading and interpretation of the two most important works of Aleksander Wat ("JA z jednej strony i JA z drugiej strony mego mopsożelaznego piecyka" and "Pieśni wędrowca"). The last part summarizes the author’s main reflections.

Bycie w terenie / Being out in the land / Estar en el terreno

Author(s): / Language(s): English,Polish,Spanish

You are warmly invited to think about rootedness through a book on the experience of place and being out in the land. We are heading towards the land led not so much by methodological determinations of the land as a category in ethnological research, but by philosophers’ creed where man is a localised being; moreover, what is human is extracted by means of being in a place which binds the orders of spacetime, of landscape, the orders locating us "here and now,” the domestic and rooting orders, but also those questioning our certainty about location, turning home into ruin. Place introduces into the domestic traces of the indescribable, the inscrutable, the indefinite. Place – materially, socially and spiritually capacious – focuses on the land as an area of the Earth, which unveils in man the sensation of enormity, the feeling of blending in and the will to co-create; but the land also becomes an area of our activity and, at the same time, a stage for nature/culture activity; the land is what is open, unveiled in a place, it cannot be ignored, it is extracted from humans during their response to the land, it exposes humans in their being in the land.

Pejzaże miasta w komiksie. Studia nad komiksem

Author(s): Matylda Sęk-Iwanek / Language(s): Polish

The book "Pejzaże miasta w komiksie. Studia nad komiksem" focuses on the study of comics, where the main motif becomes the analysis of urban space. The city is a research track, but also a pretext for addressing the issues of the functioning of comics, its structure and components. The author starts with an overview of the state of comics studies. Another important part of the monograph is the preparation of tools and methods which are important in the study and analysis of comics. The book constructs and describes the research methodology, including its new elements. The final part of the work, in turn, offers examples of comics analysis in the light of the study of urban space, also employing the developed tools. The adopted research perspective allows to use the methods developed in this book to study also other, not only urban, tropes and themes in comics.
