Author(s): Marc Maesschalck,Benoît Ghislain Kanabus / Language(s): French / Issue: 9/2009

Th is article shows how, starting from Schelling and Henry, one can build a radical critique of objectifi cation and subjectifi cation within humanities. Th is critique opens the way for the construction of a point of view of immanence, which is characterized by the experimentation of a constitution of aff ects in a process from which proceeds the subjectivity. Th is point of view of immanence questions the accepted attitudes in the production of social relationships and the norms that govern them, so as to increase the attention to the vulnerability of these processes and their power to transform the aff ects.

Gezwungene Sommergäste des Kriegs. Österreichische Schriftsteller in der Emigration auf der Insel Korčula (1942-1944)

(Im)Possibilities of Autobiography in Karel Čapek‘s “Obyčejný život“

(Im)Possibilities of Autobiography in Karel Čapek‘s “Obyčejný život“

(Ne)možnosti autobiografie v diele Karla Čapka Obyčejný život

Author(s): Gabriella Csizmadia Petres / Language(s): Slovak / Issue: 2/2011

Keywords: Autobiography. Quasi-autobiography. Anti-autobiography. Meta-autobiography. Heterogeneous subject. Distorting memory.

The paper interprets “Obyčejný život”, a work by Karel Čapek in the context of late 20th century autobiography theories. Previous interpretations are more or less dominated by the so called noetic aspects, however, the autobiographical difficulties raised by the work, the impossibility of imagining life as narration, and facing the multi-facetedness of the self raise the possibility of employing autobiographical considerations. An interesting feature of the analysed work is that it includes an embedded story, an autobiographical text, which has a double structure: the first part includes a traditional autobiography that is a quasi-autobiography; the second part consists of the dismantlement, rethinking and re-evaluation of the first part. Therefore, I call the second part an anti-autobiography, its aim is to liberate the autobiographer from his illusions about the workings of an autobiography and to point at the failure of idealized preconceptions about life story narration. An anti-autobiography works as metaautobiography, and rewrites the relationship of the autobiography and the autobiographer, it intends to riddle the autobiographer’s myth about his/her own autobiographer: it points at the fact that the autobiographer works with a distorting memory instead of a precise one and employs metaphorical narration instead of metonymical, presents only life fragments instead of a whole life story and instead of a homogeneous self it presents a multiple, heterogeneous subject.

To the Theatre of Carlo Goldoni: The Topicality and Modernity of his Image of Reality

Návrat k divadlu Carla Goldoniho: Aktuálnosť a modernosť jeho obrazu reality

Author(s): Marina Ruffinazzi-Leue / Language(s): Slovak / Issue: 01/2012

Botho Strauß, a Magician of the Dramatic Structures

Botho Strauß, un magician al structurilor dramatice

Author(s): Eleonora Pascu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: XVI-XVII/2001

Pavel Eisner and Bloudění by Jaroslav Durych. Literary transfer, canon formation and identity

Pavel Eisner Bloudění Jaroslava Durycha. Literární transfer, tvorba kánonu a identita

Author(s): Tilman Kasten / Language(s): / Issue: 6/2014

Keywords: Pavel Eisner; Jaroslav Durych; Bloudění; Rekviem; German-Czech literary transfer; translation; canon; identity

The life and work of Pavel Eisner and his role in literary and cultural transfer has in the past attracted the attention of many researchers. However, only marginal attention has been paid to Eisner’s German translation of Durych’s “larger” and “smaller” Wallenstein trilogy, despite the fact that it forms an important stage in Eisner’s work. On the basis of Eisner’s notes on the novel Bloudění, the present study deals with the issue of why Eisner was so intensively involved on behalf of Durych both on the Czech scene and in Germany. The study analyses the search for cultural, ethnic and religious/denominational identity in Eisner’s literary criticism and aesthetic attitudes.

Heritage as s Metaphor of Female Fates

DĚDICTVÍ JAKO METAFORA ŽENSKÉHO OSUDU

Author(s): Svatava Urbanová / Language(s): Czech / Issue: 1/2015

Keywords: History of Hlučín in Silesia; female stories; topics and symbols

The prose writer Eva Tvrdá (1963) is interested in the life fates of ordinary women from the region of the town of Hlučín which has a powerful history linked with the Third Reich. She places more than sixty years of history, which are parts of memorial and recollective pictures, into the prose of the so-called Silesian Trilogy which have been published in a collected form as Dědictví (Heritage), Třešňovou alejí (Cherry Lane) and Okna do pokoje (Windows to a Room). The motifs of family, home, travels and motherhood, which are linked with social and regional identity, are repeated in her work.

THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL BACKGROUND OF POLITICAL COMMUNICATION IN ROMANIA

THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL BACKGROUND OF POLITICAL COMMUNICATION IN ROMANIA

DER ZEITHISTORISCHE UND KULTURELLE HINTERGRUND DER POLITISCHEN KOMMUNIKATION IN RUMÄNIEN

Author(s): Marc Stegherr / Language(s): German / Issue: 2/2016

Keywords: Media; Crisis; Transformation; Democracy; Discourse.

The media in Western (and Eastern) Europe are in a serious crisis. The gap between published and public opinion is steadily widening. The crisis of Romanian transformation policy and political communication is reflected in a media crisis and more generally in a crisis of trust in political institutions. The disappointment with sluggish political and social change is growing. The article describes the political, social, cultural and intellectual background and the problems of the present Romanian political and public discourse. The main reason why since the end of communist dictatorship no fundamental change towards an open and “impartial discourse” could be achieved is seen in the persisting deficits of democratic transformation and political communication.

Lucian Blaga’s Books about Cognition and their Reception by Philosophical

Lucian Blaga’s Books about Cognition and their Reception by Philosophical Criticism.

CĂRŢILE BLAGIENE ALE CUNOAŞTERII ŞI RECEPTAREA LOR DE CRITICA FILOSOFICĂ

Author(s): Eugeniu Nistor / Language(s): Romanian,Moldavian / Issue: 2/2019

Keywords: trilogy; philosophical consciousness; dogmatic aeon; transfigured paradox; Luciferian knowledge; transcendent censorship; experiment;

Works about cognition in Lucian Blaga’s system of thought originallyconstituted a trilogy, according to his “Trilogy of Cognition” (1943), but in 1959 heproceeded to a new restructuring, by adding two more works, one as an opening, andthe other as a “supplement”, thus resulting in a “pentalogy” that includes: ConcerningPhilosophical Consciousness (lithographed manuscript from 1947, published in 1974);The Dogmatic Aeon (1931); The Luciferian Knowledge (1933); The TranscendentalCensorship (1934); Supplement: Experiment and Mathematical Spirit (manuscript, published in 1969). Thus, after reordering philosophical ideas from antiquity to thepresent day and stirring consciences, Lucian Blaga declares himself the adept of thedogmatic method of work, by resorting to the deepening of human knowledge, byestablishing a new line of decryption of the mysteries of the world: the Luciferianknowledge. The next step is to uncover the mechanisms of the transcendental brakes ofthe Great Anonymous, who stops and censures all access to the mystery of humanthought, leaving though a door open to epistemological perspectives and cultural-artisticrevelations. Soon as they came out, Blaga’s books about cognition were subjected tophilosophical criticism, being sometimes praised and sometimes suffering criticalattacks and qualitative mutations from their commentators, more or les pertinent.

THE FATHER'S FIGURE IN THE FAMILY CHRONICLES DEMARGUERITE YOURCENAR AND LUAN STAROVA

LA FIGURE DU PÈRE DANS LES CHRONIQUES FAMILIALES DEMARGUERITE YOURCENAR ET DE LUAN STAROVA

Author(s): Elisaveta Popovska / Language(s): French / Issue: 2/2019

Keywords: chronique familiale; mémoire familiale; figure du père; lecture

Author(s): Ion Pop Curseu / Language(s): French / Issue: 43/2020

Keywords: magic; science; eroticism; Allan Kardec; Éliphas Lévi; literature; art; images;

Taking as a starting point the hypotheses of Ioan Peter Couliano on Renaissance magic, this paper tries to see if they could be transferred to other cultural contexts, i.e. 19th century or contemporary world. During the 19th century, with modernity emerging and developing on a planetary scale, two divergent cultural tendencies confront: the rationalism and scientific positivism on one side, and – on the other side – various sorts of magic inspired by Plato. Two seminal works, elaborated around 1857 are analyzed: the spiritualist contribution of Allan Kardec and the magic work of Éliphas Lévi. The first one is oriented towards a conciliation of his explorations in the realm of dead with scientific imperatives, and the second one elaborates an extremely interesting magic syncretism, based on the idea of the universality of the force that eroticism emanates. The influences of the works of Kardec and Lévi on romantic and post-romantic literature, but also on cinema are mentioned and briefly analyzed in the article.

Cardinal Jean Daniélou (1905–1974) – A Catholic thinker for our time

Cardinal Jean Daniélou (1905–1974). Un penseur catholique pour notre temps

Author(s): Krzysztof Witko / Language(s): French / Issue: 17/2021

Keywords: Jean Daniélou; theologian; professor; priest; Christian Faith; Church; Living Tradition, apostolate

The Jesuit theologian, Cardinal Jean Daniélou, was not only the author of numerous books and articles, the founder of the patristic and theological collections (Sources Chrétiennes, Théologie Historique), but also a popular speaker and retreat-giver for the Paris academic and artistic circles. Therefore, it is not surprising that these comprehensive intellectual interests and intense pastoral activities were reflected in his patristic and theological works and gave it a specific flavour that is not easy to be rendered in a single compact system. This article aims to present briefly the figure of J. Daniélou as an outstanding patrist and theologian, academic lecturer and pastor, whoselife and deeds were totally coherent with the testimony of faith in the Risen Jesus Christ, firmly rooted in living Tradition and lived out and celebrated in the community of the Church at the present stage of salvation history.

Postfaces in Karel Čapek’s Writings, or ‘Reflections Written in the Margin’

Doslovy ke Spisům Karla Čapka aneb „Úvaha psaná na okraj“

Author(s): Magdaléna Smějsíková / Language(s): Czech / Issue: 40/2022

Keywords: Karel Čapek’s Writings (1980–1995); postface; paratext; textual analysis; 1980s

This study focuses on the postfaces that accompany Karel Čapek’s Writings (published 1980–1995), with an eye to the way they relate to the primary texts. The first part explores the nature of these essays, as well as the topics they address, in relation to Gérard Genette’s theory of paratexts. The author then goes on to examine certain presuppositions in the essays about the experience of reading Čapek’s writings, and how or whether authors of the essays are aware of their role in mediating this experience. In a third and final part of the study, the author examines the demands placed on literature during the period 1948–1989, and how they are reflected in the postfaces.

Bajka pro dnešek

Author(s): Tereza Dědinová / Language(s): Czech / Issue: 2/2022

Keywords: Ekokritika; hyperobjekt; antropocén; hybridizace; příroda × kultura

Daleka toho být čistě hodnotící či dokonce ideologickou metodou, ekokritika zkoumá reprezentace vztahu přírody a kultury, reflektuje propojení environmentální a sociální tematiky a analyzuje inovativní strategie narace usilující o postižení komplexních témat.
