Urban People

Lidé města

Frequency: irregular and other / Country: Czech Republic

Lidé města / Urban People is a peer-reviewed academic journal which primarily addresses socio-cultural anthropology and research on topics of urban anthropology. The journal strives for a causal explanation of changes experienced by particular cities or towns and their inhabitants. The life of cities/towns is studied in broad social, cultural, political and geographical contexts. The journal conceives of the city not only as a certain territory, administrative unit, or place for living and carrying out a profession or other activity; but also as a place which, over the generations, becomes home for people who differ in age, religion, background, etc. and are similar in, e.g., their affiliation with the city. With regard to the present permeability of discipline and thematic borders, however, the journal is not limited to these problems. Therefore, the editors accept studies and other types of texts which emerge not only from socio-cultural, historical and philosophical anthropological positions, but also from methods and approaches of sociology, history or other social sciences and the humanities. The magazine is included in the list of reviewed non-impacted periodicals published in the Czech Republic and also in the international scientometric and bibliographic databases ERIH and CEEOL.
