Glasnik Zemaljskog muzeja Bosne i Hercegovine u Sarajevu: Etnologija

Frequency: 1 issues / Country: Bosnia and Herzegovina

A very important moment for the National Museum of B&H was publishing of the Museum’s annual publication Glasnik Zemaljskog muzeja Bosne i Hercegovine (The Herald of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina), with its first volume appearing already in 1889. Thanks to that, the Museum’s Library started international exchange of publications, establishing connections and co-operation with museums and various and famous scientific institutions all over the world. The first exchange arrangements were established with 65 institutions at home and abroad. Those arrangements provided the Library with the then modern titles of periodicals, enabling the Museum curators to follow the scientific achievements of that time, but also a possibility to show the world B&H’s results in research through the articles published in Glasnik. In the period 1889-1943 fifty five volumes of Glasnik were published in the so-called “old series”. After World War II Glasnik started with the “new series”, where it has appeared in three separate volumes: Archaeology, Ethnology and Natural History. Glasnik kept its annual pace of publishing until 1992, when it, hopefully just temporarily, lost its regularity in appearing due to the war and the post-war situation. Within the “new series” of Glasnik 51 volume of Archaeology issue have appeared, 49 of Ethnology, and 32 of Natural History. The Archaeology volume of Glasnik comprises papers that deal with the results of archaeological research mostly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and refer to periods of Prehistory (Stone and Metal Ages), Antiquity (Hellenistic and Roman periods), and Middle Ages (from Migration Period to the Late Middle Ages). Articles are in Bosnian, with summaries in English, German or French. The intention of the Editorial Board is to publish in future in both Bosnian and English language. The Ethnology volume comprises papers in ethnology and folklore, related to material and spiritual segments of folk culture. The articles are in Bosnian with summaries in English, German or French. The intention of the Editorial Board is to publish in future in both Bosnian and English language. The Natural History volume of Glasnik gives scientific and professional papers from the fields of mineralogy, petrology, palaeontology, botany, zoology, mycology, which are elaborated from the points of systematics, ecology and biodiversity. The articles are in Bosnian with summaries in English, German or French. The intention of the Editorial Board is to publish in future in both Bosnian and English language.
