The Zeitschrift für Siebenbürgische Landeskunde / Journal for Transylvanian Studies is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes original contributions from various fields of research related to Transylvania in a broader East-Central European context. Even though the main focus of the journal lies on social and human sciences, especially history, literature, geography and anthropology, also contributions from other disciplines are published. Apart from scholarly research-articles, a constant part of the journal are publications of original sources, a discussion-forum as well as a an extensive review-section that discusses publications related to Transylvania and neighbouring regions. The Journal is published in its present form since 1978 and continues as 4th series the "Korrespondenzblattes des Vereins für Siebenbürgische Landeskunde" (Correspondence paper of the society for Transylvanian Studies), founded in 1878. In 1999, the journal merged with the in form and content similarly structured, semi-annual journal "Siebenbürgische Semesterblätter" (published from 1987 to 1998). Starting with 2013, the frequency has been changed to annual.
