Kalligram

Frequency: 12 issues / Country: Slovakia

In 2002 Kalligram celebrated its 10th anniversary. From its simple beginning as monthly literary magazine in 1992 - with Lajos Grendel as editor-in-chief; Gábor Csanda, Gábor Farnbauer, Zoltán Hizsnyai, János Széky and László Tóth also joined to strengthen the editorial staff. Kalligram was originally established as a workshop of Hungarian literature in Slovakia. However, its horizon transcends its country's borders while upholding that there is only one true Hungarian literature. Besides Hungarian writers and critics from Slovakia it has a wide range of contributors from Hungary and other countries. The subtitle of the magazine Art and Thought (Művészet és Gondolat) predestined its broad scope. In addition to literature (original works and translations), literary criticism and reviews, studies on art and philosophy - some other fields of social sciences also appear in its pages. Additionally, on occasion, external editors provide material on issues dedicated to special themes such as e.g. Pornography (1998/7-8-9), American Minimalist Poetry (2000/12), Portuguese Art and Thought (2000/6) etc. The first issue of the Kalligram magazine on the CEEOL website (2002/10) contains studies and reflections on Péter Nádas's works on his 60th birthday.
