Zeitschrift für Ostmitteleuropa-Forschung / Journal of East Central European Studies (ZfO/JECES) (ISSN 0948-8294) presents, under Open Access conditions since January 2019, the newest research on history and culture of the countries and regions that today are within the borders of the states of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as well as regions of what are today Belarus, Russia (Kaliningrad exclave), Ukraine and Hungary. From 1952-1994 the journal was appeared under the name “Zeitschrift für Ostforschung.” JECES publishes articles, research and literature reports as well as book reviews in German and English on a quarterly basis. The journal is edited by leading representatives of historical research on Eastern Central Europe and is published by the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe–Institute of the Leibniz Association in Marburg. All submitted manuscripts are subjected to a double blind peer review process.
