Short Description

The archives took central role in social memory. The researcher who is interested in the political, social and cultural past of women and minorities on the Balkans finds information quite by chance working with different archive fonds of dominated by males and majority state institutions. The existence of such groups is hidden: in the inventory lists they miss because the inventories reflect the activities of the institutions not the subjects. This is the reason the information about women and minorities to be mostly about them not the one coming from them. Most often the proscribed information combines data of different official sources: police, public health, educational, political and cultural institutions. We aim at making visible the past of women and minorities on the Balkans, at systemizing and comparing the fragmentized information about them in the existing institutional and private archive fonds.
