Summary/Abstract: The recent rapprochement between Turkey and Egypt could be the key to the stabilization of the situation in Libya, which is crucial for downgrading the Russian diplomatic and military expansion in the EU’s southern neighborhood, and for reducing the EU’s dependence on Russian energy. It could also be an opportunity to alleviate the refugee problem in the EU’s southern neighborhood at a time when the EU is challenged by the influx of millions of Ukrainian refugees into its borders. The Czech presidency of the EU can play an important role in this respect and contribute to the EU’s support of constructive relations between Turkey and Egypt within this evolving environment.
