Summary/Abstract: Former President of the United States and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump was informed during his campaign that Iran was planning his assassination. The warning, issued by the National Intelligence Service less than two months before election day, prompted Trump to request protection in the form of military aircraft— something no presidential candidate had ever requested before. This reaction is not surprising, given that there had already been two unsuccessful assassination attempts on Trump, although there is no evidence that Iran was involved. These two attempts negatively impacted an already politically divided society in the United States. If Iran succeeded in orchestrating the assassination, the Islamic Republic would have exploited the internal problems of the U.S., leading to the destabilization of the entire country. This is just one example of election interference in a democratic state, which has been prevalent, primarily originating from Iran, Russia, and China.
