Summary/Abstract: Few anticipated that 2025 would be politically defined in Serbia by two developments: the persistence of student protests and the government’s failure in relations with the United States. Trump’s second term was greeted with enthusiasm; many believed that, building on experience from his first term, Belgrade’s ambitions would find favor in Washington. Instead, things went downhill. The year ends with foreign policy balancing nearly abandoned, Serbia exposed to the whims of an unpredictable administration and the president of the world’s most powerful nation, and under threat that its longcriticized energy dependence on Russia will finally backfire.
