Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes demographic challenges in Southeast Europe (SEE) in the context of globalization, focusing on the paradoxical interaction between global integration and local identities. It investigates how globalization, through its economic, social and cultural implications, affects the perception and experience of identity in SEE, and how this, in turn, shapes demographic trends. The analysis shows that SEE is at the center of a complex global demographic process, where the classic concept of "brain drain" intertwines with the new phenomenon of "identity drain". Using statistical data and qualitative analysis, it is shown that globalization, although it offers economic benefits, has also created significant demographic challenges in SEE. In this regard, a number of recommendations are proposed to address these challenges, including: redefining identity in the context of globalization, empowering local communities and encouraging confidence in the future, and creating policies that promote inclusion and sustainability in the context of global connectivity.
