Summary/Abstract: The presidential elections in Belarus will be held on January 26, 2025. According to the provisions of the Constitution of Belarus, the president is elected for a mandate period of five years. According to the electoral law, every citizen of the Republic of Belarus, who was born in that country and is, at least, 35 years old, has the right to be a candidate for the president of the state if he has resided in the Republic of Belarus continuously for at least ten years before the election. The candidate must not have a criminal record. Candidates for the position of president are proposed by the citizens of Belarus, provided that the signatures of at least 100,000 voters have been collected for the candidacy. Candidates for the position of President of the Republic are proposed by initiative groups of citizens, which must have at least 100 members. Presidential elections are considered valid if more than 50% of all citizens of the Republic of Belarus registered in the voter register participated in the voting process. The president is considered elected if he wins more than 50% of the votes of citizens participating in the elections.
