Summary/Abstract: In 2024, when half of the world's population goes to the polls, democracy is on the agenda. More than ever before, American voters are faced with an existential choice about the direction of our country this November, a choice that will have implications for the future of our republic's representative democracy. The outcome of this year's election will also determine the future of America and whether we will continue to lead democracy in the world. The two main candidates in the presidential election, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, have very different views on the future of American governance and America's role in the world.
