Summary/Abstract: After the Houthis began attacking ships in the Red Sea, experts noted the escalation that many fear. Some have said that it looks like we are heading towards World War III and that attention has shifted to the conflict in Gaza, which has no end in sight despite the various maneuvers going on in the background. The older among us recalled the quiet lull of the late 1930s with struggling economies and people who were content, sometimes expressing their displeasure by going on strike. The key issue last month was that the South Africans took the Israelis to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague for claiming that what Israel did was genocide, which Israel of course rejected. The judges did not rule in favor of the Israelis, but the Court did not declare them guilty of genocide either, but left the issue unproven. It will take some time to gather enough evidence to decide whether the Israelis were genocidal in some of their actions. Evidence is now being gathered.
