Summary/Abstract: The field of exports and imports of arms and military equipment and control of imports and exports of dual-use goods in Bosnia and Herzegovina has so far been regulated by the 2003 Law on Export and Import of Arms and Military Equipment and Control of Export and Import of Dual-Use Products, with subsequent amendments in 2003 and 2005. In view of the nature of 2005 amendments, which besides the military goods also regulated dual-use products and technologies, it has been identified that the present solutions are incomplete and unfunctional. In this context, while assessing the situation regarding the main issues to be regulated in the field of exports and imports of arms and military equipment and control of imports and exports of dual-use products, more than 50% of the main body of the law was identified as needing amendments with the view to adapting the law to the real needs, to the need of full definition and harmonization with the European regulations and standards related to the concepts of services, comprehensive control, and finally with the view to regulating the control of exports of goods that are not included in the current control lists; thus, in accordance with Article 46 of the Universal Rules for Producing Legal Regulations in BiH Institutions, it has been decided to start the procedure of passing a new law.
