Summary/Abstract: What would have been the outcome of the recent Greek referendum if the European Union had engaged in a "yes" campaign? What would the European Union look like today if the French and Dutch citizens had not rejected the Constitution of Europe 10 years ago? Or that there is an open debate at the European level about the changing demographic picture of Europe, the unstoppability of immigration and the ways in which the EU can act? Perhaps we would live in a different Europe today if the European Commission had invested more in public relations and communication with citizens in the past two decades. It is really surprising that despite the well-known problem of alienation of European citizens from EU institutions and ignorance of basic information about the functioning of this community, even today there is no unified and coherent policy of EU communication with its citizens.
