Summary/Abstract: During the Cold War period, there were very close cultural, economic and political ties between the former socialist countries of Central and Eastern Europe – led by the Czech Republic – on the one hand and India on the other. The authors of this study were quite surprised by the very positive response from the respondents when they learned that they were from the Czech Republic. During the series of interviews, it was a rule that Indian representatives and experts emphasized their long-standing close ties with the Czech Republic, among other things, highlighting Czech products known in India and generally describing India’s relationship with the Czech Republic as “strong”, “close” and “traditionally friendly”.
