Summary/Abstract: Time is a key factor and determinant in the functioning of any political community, including the EU. Time is a limited and particularly important resource. The practice of EU enlargement negotiations has never been uniform when it comes to the time dynamics and length of negotiations, or transitional periods. Different dynamics are particularly characteristic of the process of integration of the Western Balkans, which is still in the "search for lost time". Changed circumstances, after Brexit and reforms in the EU could open a new stage when it comes to the time horizon of Union enlargement.
