Summary/Abstract: Despite the different forecasts, there is agreement that the economic costs of climate change are greater than the costs of its mitigation. For example, according to research by the University of Potsdam, the global economy is already on track to decline by 19% by 2050 as a result of climate change, which is six times higher than the costs of climate change mitigation. Even the most conservative scenario of climate inaction is more expensive than the most expensive scenario of climate change mitigation costs. In other words, efforts to mitigate climate change will pay off even under the most optimistic assumptions about future developments.
