Summary/Abstract: I owe the publication of this book to Ferdinand Peroutka, who, with his articles in »Přítomnost« and the discussion on pacifism that he published in this magazine, gave the impetus to a closer examination of the problem of modern war and peace. The defense of the nation and the country constitutes a very dangerous pitfall in this question, on which all noble dreams of peace and international community, here and everywhere, are doomed. Peroutka and with him all the other pacifists paint war in the darkest colors and declare it a crime. As soon as national interests are mentioned, however, their decisive tone disappears and objections appear, similar to the reservations of the Kellogg Pact, which make the reprehensibility of war problematic and move the matter into a purely theoretical area. »We are against war,« it is said, and now the supposed reasons follow that admit war as a necessary evil. And among these pacifists are people whose sincerity and sincerity I have no doubt. (the author) - Published in 1931 by " SBRATŘENÍ" (PAVLA MOUDRÁ) PRAGUE
