Summary/Abstract: The previously observed period was marked by attacks and targeting of journalists. Representatives of the authorities launched a campaign against the journalist Ljiljana Stojanović because of a critical question addressed to the minister, while the lawyer verbally attacked the journalist Dinko Gruhonjić. IN media portal faces pressure and SLAPP lawsuits for reporting on controversial events. In several cases, local media are denied the opportunity to report from the sessions of local assemblies, which reduces the transparency of the work of local authorities. Citizens who decide to protest as a way of expressing dissatisfaction face pressure. After the farmers’ protest, members of certain associations were invited to informative talks, which puts pressure on the activists and undermines basic rights. The Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the criminal charges against the anonymous creators of the list of “environmental terrorists”. Of particular concern are the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code, which will potentially punish persons who invite citizens to protests.
