Summary/Abstract: A Manhattan grand jury has indicted former U.S. President Donald Trump on 34 criminal charges brought by the New York District Attorney of falsifying business records. This is the first time in U.S. history that a former president has been indicted. While this case is purely criminal, it will be heavily politicised by Republicans and Trump himself. He has the best chance of winning the Republican Party nomination in the primaries, which start in February 2024.
