Summary/Abstract: During the meeting of the Republic of Moldova-China Economic Cooperation and Trade Committee, which took place in December 2016, the two sides reached a broad understanding regarding the need to initiate negotiations on a free trade agreement between them. It was assumed that the signing of such a document will constitute an important step forward for the intensification of economic relations and the increase of trade between the Republic of Moldova and China. The discussions ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at preparing the foundation for the initiation of the given discussions.
