Summary/Abstract: After the announcement of the prospect of creating a Capital Markets Union in the EU, some initial expectations were focused on a complete overlap with the Banking Union model. In practice, however, the Capital Markets Union started with a very different architecture than that the one of the Banking Union. Although there are some commonalities, the differences between these two unions are unexpectedly many and they reflect on some of their main characteristics.
