Summary/Abstract: The idea of sustainable development was first introduced in the late 1980s, and since then has been continuously enriched and disseminated in scientific and political circles. The term 'sustainable development' contains two basic concepts – 'sustainability' on one hand, which is a concern for the environment and social inclusion, and on the other, economic 'development' or 'growth'. Currently, various national and international programs for sustainable development aim to achieve sustainability and growth at the same time. This report addresses the question of the conceptual and practical contradictions between the two objectives.
