Summary/Abstract: The report reveals the peculiarities of quality management and the reasons for its origin. It reveals questions related to the costs for the quality management and the costs of poor quality. It stands on the position that good quality management is one of the main reasons for increasing the company's competitiveness by reducing defects in the production process, offering goods and services responding to the ever-changing market requirements, attracting and retaining loyal customers and satisfied employees. The report justifies the necessity of quality management systems for a well-functioning business and for preserving of competitive advantages.
