Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the interpretation of anniversary memories of the Main School alumna published on the occasion of 40th and 50th anniversary of school’s establishment. The statements of Aleksander Świętochowski, Edmund Jankowski, Aleksander Kraushar, Samuel Dickstein and Henryk Nusbaum were the subject of analyze. They underlined a great importance of the Main School as cultural-oriented institution, played the significant part in the time of partitions. The ideas and values promoted by the Main School constituted an important element of Polish cultural consciousness of 20th century, actual in later years too.
