Summary/Abstract: The article refers to care (provided by family members) as a social policy task. It indicates how the problem of care affects new ways of perceiving and conceptualizing social security systems. In a situation where care has been defined as public and political good, countries and international organizations have started to create care policies. Care policies are designed to help manage the care deficit problem in economically developed countries, including taking into account and enhancing the contribution of family carers to creating welfare and well-being of societies.
