Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the purpose of countless journeys in selected novels by Madeleine de Scudéry. Thanks to continuous travels, readers may discover new, unknown places and experience real ancient stories, which undoubtedly fulfills the essential role of literary creation — teaching and playing. The journey can also be a constant pursuit of the beloved woman, a defection of admirers with an abducted woman or an escape from repression. It may also be a discovery of the world for pleasure or, in case of characters in love, a reflection of their souls.
