Summary/Abstract: This article aims at showing the role of the mask in the works by Gaja Grzegorzewska. In constructing the non-standard character of a female detective Julia Dobrowolska, the author shows the non-revealing of the true self ad finem while assuming more and more newer roles not only as hiding one’s own identity behind the socially accepted behaviors, but, above all, as a way to “processˮ traumatic experiences and finally enjoy creating one’s own image and life.
