Summary/Abstract: The article shows the extent to which cultural and political fields were intertwined in the 19th century Poland. The author attempts at describing both fields without reducing their mutual influences. The argumentation is based on the analysis of public commemorations of the Main School. All of them in fact refer to the idea of agreement collaboration (ugoda) with Russian authorities.
