Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the notion of linguistic sign. The Saussurean concept of sign is presented, followed by the discussion of the missing “third component”: syntactics, or the data on sign’s combinatorics, which is of utmost importance for linguistic signs. The notion of linguistic sign within Meaning-Text approach is introduced, with several linguistic examples illustrating a linguistic sign’s components.
