Summary/Abstract: Nowadays maps are often created by the use of new media, which facilitates their popularisation. The Internet, dedicated programs, and applications, but also GIS – these media and tools are adapted to data collection and their automatic analysis. An interesting issue in the Web 2.0 era is participatory maps. In recent years, in this area some interesting activist projects have been organized that combine not only information gathering and processing, its reconfiguration in an automated manner by a number of operations but, above all, they create the possibility of using the visualized data later to solve the problems or get the answers. In this paper, the author discusses an important and forward-looking model of communication between citizens and governors on the example of several important participatory projects.
