Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to describe the terms for the East- and West-Germans before and after the turn of 1989/90. Based on the practical investigation conducted in this study it was possible to analyze the use of such lexemes as Ostler, Westler, Ossi, Wessi and Wossi in the German press language and to illustrate them on examples from the electronic newspaper corpus (www.dwds.de). Finally the phenomena of Ostalgie and Wossifizierung were discussed.
