Summary/Abstract: This chapter discusses the importance of hearing for contemporary people andan outline of the anatomical structure and the physiology of the hearing organ.The aging process of hearing and the consequent hearing loss and its classificationare presented. Risk factors for the occurrence of hearing loss are described,as well as prevention methods, diagnosis principles and ways of dealing withpeople suffering from age-related hearing impairment.
