Summary/Abstract: The technological development has contributed to increasing environmentalproblems, but it has also offered some solution aimed at improving the environment,evolved with energy quality. Some of these developments have been used in the transportsector, one of the most contributing to the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) andother polluting substances to the atmosphere.In this context, a look at emissions of GHG generated by Colombia and by the transportsector is presented. The review of scientifi c literature shows new technological developmentsthat have contributed to reducing these emissions in order to increase energyeffi ciency and reduce the fuel consumption. The article concludes that there are variedtechnological option in the transport sector used in various regions of the world whichseek the improvement of air quality in urban areas.
