Summary/Abstract: Our organism is a federation of an immense number of cells, each and every one of them also being a microorganism, which lives its complex life. In the meantime, all these cells interact between each other by adequately responding to the input signals and also sending signals themselves. The study of the processes which transform normal cells into tumorous ones led to incredible and unpredictable results: in normal cells has been found a system of interaction with a particular protein, which can be defined as a “system for guarding the genes”. This system protects the cells and the organism as a whole from mutations in the genome. The main role in this system is played by a protein by the name of p53.
