Summary/Abstract: Sururi’s Persian commentary on Mathnawi is one of the oldest commentaries of this Mawlana’s work and the first complete commentary on Mathnawi in Persian. The author of this commentary is Muslihuddin Mustafa Sururi, and his work has not encountered more prominent attention of researchers, and it has not even been printed by now. AsA šik Čelebi notes, in 14th and 15th centuries – before our author – commentaries on Mathnawi in Persian and Ottoman language were written by Šemsudin Muhammad Asri Lahidzani, Daei illalah Širazi, Zarifi HasanČelebi, Vali Hasan ibn Ali Kašefi Beihagi, Sultan Han Osmani and Abdulvahabibn Jalalodin Hamadani, although there was not a single complete commentary on Mathnawi before Sururi’s.
