Summary/Abstract: Building and developing competitive advantages is the biggest challenge that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) face in contemporary conditions of global competition and dynamically changing business environment. In the meantime scientific research on competitive strategies and advantages of SMEs lags behind the research on the same topic in the context of larger enterprises. This paper presents a discussion on the nature and specific characteristics of competitive advantages of SMEs. Also recommendation on acquiring and developing competitive advantages for SMEs are proposed.
