Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the so called dubitative in Bulgarian which represents a unique morphological strategy for expressing doubt, uncertainty, irony, etc. Structured as a member of the peripheral structure of evidential system in Bulgarian, those forms exhibit doubling of resultative grammatical marker (-l morpheme) usually used as a marker expressing evidentiality, in our case purposefully used to express meanings from the domain of both – modality and evidentially. The paper discusses the semantic and functional features of the forms – paradigmatically presented in comparison with the unmarked indicative forms. Some conclusions are drawn from the data pre-sented in the paper.
