Summary/Abstract: The evolution of the cohesion policy (CP) has had a significant importance for the european union and for hungary as well, mainly because of the amount of funds available for supporting convergence. in our study first we highlight the important theoretical background which has an effect on the formulation of the policy and the strength of its reasonability. in the next part we analyse the most essential documents which are determining till the present the cohesion policy. Finally, we introduce a future scenario for the policy in the planning period of 2014-2020.
